KU students listening to lectureThe KU Philosophy Development Fund is the Department's only unrestricted source of private support to fund such things as essay contests, partial support for visiting lecturers, support for occasional student and faculty travel to regional professional meetings, hospitality for visiting speakers, student prizes, teaching awards for Graduate Student Assistants, awards for outstanding student service, support for the Undergraduate Philosophy Club and the Graduate Association of Students in Philosophy, and a host of other activities that are not fully funded (or not funded at all) by the State. This modest fund has been primarily supported by our philosophy alumni and is presently seriously depleted. We hope that our alumni will become Friends of KU Philosophy and make their tax deductible contributions to this fund annually. You can be assured that any contribution however modest would be warmly appreciated by our faculty, staff, and students.
