  • Ethics, including: well-being, metaethics, moral psychology, value theory, and medical ethics

Areas of Competence:

  • History of ethics, political philosophy, existentialism and phenomenology, pragmatism

My main area of scholarly research is ethics. I work on the nature (and measurement) of personal well-being and happiness, and on issues relating to well-being in metaethics, moral psychology, value theory, medical ethics, and political philosophy. I also have an interest in the history of ethics, especially the tacit meta-ethical views of Aristotle, Hobbes, Hume, the existentialists, and the American Pragmatists.
